This was most likely the easiest thing ever made. Any stitch can be used and any gauge,needle or yarn. This could be done in knit or crochet. Great as a stash buster.
If you want a guideline for making these here it is:
These slippers are made by making 2 matching rectangles, seaming the sides and adding a row for lacing them up.
I was making it for "The boy" and his shoe is a size 4. That is about 9 inches. Added an inch to the length.(In this case 10 inches long.) The width can depend on how loose you want them, but never shorter than the length of your foot (ie:foot is 9 inches long slipper will be 9 inches wide)
Made the pattern that I wanted, for this one the entire slipper was in a ribbing stitch, and then seamed the sides. Starting at the back of the newly formed "bag" attached yarn and stitched 2 stitches and then 2 spaces. Continued this all the way around the slipper joining and finishing off.
Ribbon or braided yarn can be used for the string to lace through the top of the bag, I did a length of finger crochet for these ones. Pom Poms or other endings for your strings would be optional as well.
These would make a great and easy project to make up a bunch to have on hand in different sizes. Perhaps if you have cold floors for your guests to each have a handmade gift they can take home with them after visiting and you have the ability to get rid of your stash as well.

Run a piece of scrap yarn through hands to resemble fingers, if desired.
Sew on arms
ARM RIDGE:
Attach the yarn at the shoulder of the arm at the center top;
sc in same space. Ch 3 and sl st in top of sc just made (picot made).
Mark a straight line from this point down the arm to start of paw/hand, and continue: insert hook and pull up a loop. In the next sp pull up another loop, and draw yarn through both loops. Continue all the way up the back to the top of the shoulder, making a picot every other stitch. At the top of the shoulder make a sl st and cut yarn.
FINGERS:
Pinch the end of the arm flat and pick up 4 sc at the end of the arm, making a picot in each sc.
WINGS:
Ch 4. Turn and do 1 sc in each of next 3 ch sps. Ch 1, turn. 3 sc, ch 3. turn. 3 sc on chain, 3 hdc on the three sc. Ch1, turn.
3 sc, ch 4. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in chain, 3 hdc. Ch1, turn.
4 sc, ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in ch, 3 hdc, ch 3 turn. *Work 4 dc decreases down the edge of wing opposite the feather ends.
Ch 3, turn, repeat from * once. Fasten off leaving long tail.
Ch 9. Turn and do 1 sc in each of the next 8 ch sps. ch1, turn

So I haven't posted to my journal in a couple months and in that time a lot of useless crap has happened.
I started another job and before 2 months in I was in the hospital and have been off work for almost 3 weeks. I had another interview with a really sweet job even tho it was going to be contract but now i haven't heard anything from them.
I have the house up for private sale. I have had 2 bites. Only one has continued with interest but now they are offering too little.
I am going to end up staying in this house and not having a bedroom and being an hour away from any decent work.
I am getting so disgusted with it all. It seems like even when something might go well for us ( like the potential sweet job) we get kicked down for even thinking it could.
I don't think it is too much to ask to be able to have a bedroom.
I don't think it is too much to ask to have work that doesn't put me in the hospital.
2 simple requests. That is too much?!?!?
I am stressed out beyond belief. It also seems that workers comp is willing to pay for my medical treatment and medication but not for any missed time at work.
So that means that we are down one very much needed income to this house. A house that I might add is too small for our family. |

Well it has been about 3 weeks of this slump
I would really like it to end. Problem is that I don't know what is bothering me so I don't know how to make it end.
Thought that when the girl came home it would feel better. Chris says that I seem to be constantly on edge.
Even when we went to his mother's it seemed like I was being aggressive towards everything.
I hate this.
I just want to feel right again
Maybe it is the house and work but i don't think so . If it was the house then trying to make it look right would make it better. Right now i can't even get the motivation up to do the dishes let alone try and make this house look like it isn't some small shack.
Problem is that it feels like a shack. There isn't enough room for everyone in it and with the couch out for sleeping ... that takes up the entire livingroom so all that is left of the downstairs is the kitchen and the mud room ... and right now the mudroom feels bigger than anything else in the house.
And there isn't a damned thing we can do about it.
We can't sell. The second realestate agent never even bothered to show up to put up signs or sign contracts or anything. There is no way that we can afford to build on. So Chris and I don't even have a bedroom. We get to sleep on the couch.
What drives me is that in the homestudy the guy said that liam didn't have his own room that we shared his room using it as ours when he isn't home. I WISH. That would mean that I would get my bed back and that we would have times where the bottom floor of the house wasn't filled. We wouldn't have to have the dresser in the living room with our clothes. We could have this place look like there was some room in it.
No point in ranting i suppose. It isn't going to get anything fixed. |

okay
the cat got bathed
but he still smells
just not as bad
poor thing wasn't impressed at all with his hydrogen peroxide/baking soda bath.
and it wrecked my rings
worked a hell shift this morning ... and have a worse weekend scheduled.
hopefully things will improve.
oh and i did the ultimate cheese apparently
i was driving home and a song came on the radio that made me think of chris ... so i called him on the cell and didn't say anything just turned the song up. |

I don't know why I bother!
it seems that nothing i say is ever right and usually is taken totally backwards of what i was meaning
chris and i are....ok WERE playing a game
he just looked over and saw that i was typing into LJ so stormed upstairs. GREAT
I got called in for a morning shift tomorrow ..6 am ... that means that i have to drive chris into work tonight as he doesn't get off until 8:30
I got let down again by a "friend" promicing something and not following through on it.. and it was just that she was going to call at a certain time.
I moved most of the living room around tonight. It looks better.
my poor cat is going to have to wait until tomorrow afternoon for me to get the stuff so i can bath him and he can come into the house again. He got sprayed by a skunk and i didn't have the liter of hydrogen peroxide to mix with baking soda to get rid of the smell.
Hopefully I have enough gas in the car to make it to drop chris to work and then get into work at 6 am myself.
I wish that more of my online friends lived nearby. It gets lonely out here when there isn't anyone local that i have as friends. Closest ones are an hour away.
Workmates are all way way younger than me ... and the ones that aren't younger ...aren't interested in doing anything outside of work.
I have decided that i don't like the pictures that my webcam takes... too pixilated. thus the fuzzy pic for my avatar..oh well...suits. |

Today is just getting better and better.
First Liam got picked up an hour early because of an appointment. Then I discovered that part of the roof of the barn got blown off in the last storm. So now i have to either take the barn down or fix the roof. Neither option I have the time or the resources for but the stuff that is being stored in the barn is now wrecked.
Then I discovered that Lucy's position as morning baker just went up on the job board. The position that I was supposed to get of afternoon baker still hasn't. I can't see that Lucy quit but with the crap that has been going on down at work it wouldn't surprise me at all. |

well yesterday was ... interesting
It was over 30 degrees but with the humidex it felt like 40 I wasn't cold for the first time since leaving NOLA
Got my stupid bloodwork done. Now to see if anything shows up.
Last night i went swimming in a freshwater lake. Didn't even know there was such a thing on this island. First time i have been in freshwater since i was 15. It was a blast. Went with Kendra and Brenda and Tim and Pam. Bren and i played like we were 15 again.
Today is Liam delivery day so i am going to try and work my ass off in this house so i don't have to think about it. I hate Wednesdays.
I woke up feeling exhausted again. Hopefully this will not be soon. Hopefully they will figure out what is wrong.
Was supposed to start WW this week and don't have the cash for the session so i will have to wait until next week. Payday is on Thursday WW is on wednesday. Figures.
Placed out the size of the bed and dresser and computer desk in what was supposed to be the new bedroom and guess what...it didn't fit. Good thing i didn 't buy the supplies yet.
So I still don't have a bedroom. Can't see taking Liam's room from him even if he is only going to be here on the weekends. I don't think i could handle that .. it is so permenent if I do.
Maybe there is another solution that i just am not seeing yet.
My mind is going a million miles a minute but i am not getting the answers to come out. Hate that |

well that was most unexpected and i didn't handle it well at all. Lost the custody ... totally don't understand how that was even possible. I think i am coming to terms with it ... didn't cry about it at all today .. that is a first since finding out on wednesday.
Today i found out that a friend that was supposed to come up and see me and then had to reschedule the trip due to a move... isn't likely to make it for the rescheduled time.
but what really sucks is that she didn't tell me herself
i had to find out from a third party!!
why can't people be upfront with things rather than leave it to the last minute to tell me that i am going to be let down???
I have a feeling that the wedding this weekend is going to be the same thing ... the bride still hasn't answered where what time and what dress she wants and i am supposed to be the maid of honour

i am getting more and more hardened towards people ..and that is something that i swore i wouldn't let happen to me. but here i am ...and i am getting "used" to being strung along and having nothing real come of any plans made
it happened with liam and it happens with all my "friends"
maybe chris is right and the only friends i have are only there wehn it suits them and i have something that they need ...even if that something is only a shoulder to cry on. |

Well I have done it finally. I have started a livejournal.
Mainly I am doing so for my own sanity. I don't really have anyone to talk to about all the crap that is going on. I don't feel like dumping on my friends all the time... prolly they don't like it either. Josh said at one point that I should have an LJ so here it is.
It is 3am and at 9am we find out what is happening with "the boy". I don't know what will happen if the decition is that we don't get to have primary care, mind you this it just a homevisit recommendation and isn't binding... so even if it goes "our way" this whole mess isn't over. We could still have to hash things out in court to be able to have custody.
Thing is that through all of this SHE has shown herself to be a malicious and hateful person after nothing but money and her own selfish interests. SHE has almost broken me emotionally and mentally with the crap that she has said about me and my house.
SHE has also shown that she isn't concerned about "the boy" at all. Not his health or education or wellbeing. Not once.
If she gets primary care I can honestly see him being in jeuvy before he hits 14.
I can't sleep and I can't think... it makes me imagine too many senarios.
so I am playing a stupid flash game and trying to not think.
I am not going to be sending links to this LJ to anyone ... it is mostly for myself... but if you are reading this you have stumbled apon it somehow... so in advance i appologize for my bad grammer and my bellyaching.
I just need somewhere to vent. |
